Just when you thought things were getting heavy around here....

We were having a discussion about education and the pursuit of truth at the brunch table (don't we sound so smart?) and the Conqueror was asked, "What is the truth?" and he replied "That Santa Claus isn't real."

Yes, we will be staying by ourselves for Christmas, don't you worry.

My oldest needed to know "the truth" that the Tooth Fairy wasn't real after she lost her second tooth. She was a wee bit panicked that a fairy would come into her room and steal a tooth from under her pillow while she was sleeping. She's spooky that one.
Anyhoo... though I always wrestled with Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, etc, in a way it does "work the little faith muscles" for kids. It never really breaks my heart when they find out "the Truth" and it leads into a discussion that God IS real, despite the fact that we must often rely on faith, which needs to grow bigger and stronger as we age.
